When one looks at the next Excelsior scroll saws, are these to be considered hobbyist tools? Searching for King Industrial does not find a website, and I can't see any mention of King Industrial on the King Canada website. Are they separate companies, or branches of the same company? If you don't abuse or over use your tools then go for them as they are as good as many sold at the same price point.I am not clear on the difference between King Canada and King Industrial. If you want a tool to last a lifetime and expect top quality - KC is not the brand that you want.
I personally would not buy KC but I do and have had King Industrial machines in my shop and really like them. It's people that think they can get an Industrial tool for a hobby price that shouldn't buy them. They are worth what you pay for them and I'm sure they stand behind their product. King Canada sells tools for the hobbyist. Personally my own woodworking tools are mostly hobbyist quality, and with some care they have lasted a long time (a couple of decades in some cases) and have given me good service. If I was going to use my tools to make a living I'd look at a different level of quality, but I get the sense that Robert is looking for hobbyist level. Sometimes that trade off works and sometimes it doesn't. That said, many of us use hobbyist level tools quite successfully by understanding that we have traded off some capabilities and longevity for a cash savings. If you don't abuse or over use your tools then go for them as they are as good as many sold at the same price point.I agree that KC is for hobbyists.
#POWER KING TOOL COMPANY MANUALS#
I know the Excalibur line has a reputation of almost never breaking down - but I am one of those who fall into the "almost" bucket, I would like to deal with a company that will be there with support.Īlso - if it is true that they purchased the Excalibur line, do they offer any support to those with a used Excalibur? Even a source for parts and/or manuals would be good.ĭoes anyone here have experience with King Canada support? What are they like? Selling great equipment is not much good if they can't offer after sales support. The 21" Excelsior looks like something I would work towards, eventually. Their purchase of the Excalibur line, now marketed as Excelsior, show they have a business plan with great potential. One company that seems to be marketing interesting equipment is King. Lately, it has been the Maximum (CTC) scroll saw's inability to accept pinless blades that means several interesting projects are not possible, unless I can find a way to hide rather large holes. They all work, and if used withing their design envelope they are OK, but I keep trying to do things the hardware is not intended for. I am getting very tired of bumping into the limitations of some of my equipment - scroll saw, table saw, router.
